The Dark Side of “I Am Wrong”

March 5, 2026 By Claire Turner

Ever notice how one small thing going wrong in your business can suddenly feel…personal?

A post flops.
A launch doesn’t sell.
Someone questions your work.

And before you know it your brain isn’t thinking:

“Ah, that didn’t work.”

It’s thinking:

“There’s something wrong with me.”

That belief runs deeper — and darker — than most people realise.

Because the mind doesn’t just interpret events.

It interprets what those events mean about you.

And one of the most destructive meanings we attach is this:

“I am wrong.”

Not “I did something wrong.”
Not “that didn’t work.”

Just…

I am wrong.

Once that belief is in place, the mind tends to deal with it in two very different ways.

The First Response: Compensation

If the mind believes “I am wrong” but still thinks that might be fixable, it compensates.

This is where you start to see patterns like:

  • People pleasing

  • Over-delivering

  • Perfectionism

  • Overthinking every decision

The internal logic goes something like this:

“If I work harder…”
“If I get it right this time…”
“If people approve of me…”

…maybe I can prove I’m not wrong after all.

So the person pushes.

They try to earn their place.

They try to prove themselves.

It’s exhausting, but they’re still in the game.

They’re still trying.

When the Belief Hardens

Over time, something can shift.

The belief stops being something you think, and becomes something you are.

“I am wrong.”

Not as an idea.

As an identity.

And when that happens, the behaviour changes completely.

Because if you are wrong…what exactly are you trying to fix?

You can improve behaviour.

But behaviour doesn’t resolve identity.

So the mind does something very human.

It aligns behaviour with the identity.

Not consciously.

But inevitably.

The Darker Turn

Once someone believes they are wrong as a person, the logic becomes:

“If I’m wrong anyway…what’s the point?”

And this is where things can take a darker turn.

Instead of overcompensating, people often start to lean into it.

They pull back from opportunities.

They hesitate just as things start working.

They sabotage momentum.

They let their business drift instead of really going for it.

Not because they’re lazy.

Not because they lack discipline.

But because the nervous system is trying to keep the world coherent.

If the identity is “I’m wrong”…

…then success becomes threatening.

Because success would contradict the identity.

And identity always wins.

Why Some People Keep Pushing…And Others Stop

This is why you’ll see two very different responses to the same belief.

Some people push themselves relentlessly.

Others quietly stop trying.

Very often they both started with the same belief:

“I am wrong.”

One person compensates.

The other eventually collapses into it.

Neither response is actually based on truth.

The Question That Changes Everything

Let’s slow down for a moment.

Is it actually true that you are wrong?

Not that you’ve made mistakes.

Everyone has.

But that you, as a human being, are fundamentally wrong?

You won’t find that written anywhere in your body.

It’s not in your DNA.

It’s not stamped on your nervous system.

It’s a story the mind learned to tell.

A story that once made sense to a younger version of you.

But a story nonetheless.

What Happens When the Story Starts to Dissolve

When the belief loosens — even slightly — something shifts.

You don’t need to spend your life compensating.

And you don’t need to give up either.

You just get to be human.

Which means sometimes you’ll get things wrong.

But you won’t be.

A Moment From a Client Session

One of my clients recently dissolved this belief during a session.

Her exact words were:

“This is like a natural high going on right here… I’m buzzing my tits off!”

Which, frankly, I think deserves to go on a T-shirt!

If this article hit a nerve, it’s probably because the pattern isn’t theoretical.

It’s something you’ve felt.

The good news?

Beliefs that were learned can also be dissolved.

And when they are, the shift can feel…well…

Like a natural high.

There’s a Six-Year-Old Running Your Business

February 17, 2026 By Claire Turner

I had a 1:1 recently with someone who, on paper, is absolutely smashing it.

Best month in a while.
Strong revenue.
Clients staying.
Confidence up.

All very grown-up. Very solid.

And yet.

There was this tiny wobble.

Not in the numbers.
Not in the results.
In his voice.

He can lead the physical side of what he does like an absolute machine. Clear. Decisive. Certain.

But when it came to speaking at the end – sharing something from him, not just doing the thing – he felt… exposed.

Not unqualified.

Exposed.

About ten minutes into our session, this fell out:

“If I don’t deliver it perfectly, I’ve failed.”
“And if I’ve failed…I’m a fraud.”

That’s not a communication issue.

That’s identity lag.

He wasn’t scared of public speaking. He was scared of being wrong.

And when we followed that thread back, it had nothing to do with business. Or leadership. Or revenue targets.

It had everything to do with being a small boy who learnt that speaking up wasn’t safe.

When Success Triggers Old Survival Patterns

When a child gets told – directly or indirectly – to “shut up”, they don’t intellectualise it.

They don’t think,
“Ah yes, this is just an overwhelmed parent having a moment.”

They think:

What I say is wrong.
I am wrong.

That conclusion lodges.

It becomes part of the internal operating system.

And it doesn’t magically dissolve just because you’re now earning well, running a team, or leading clients.

It sits there. Quietly.

Like a toad in its hole.

So what happens?

You overthink.
You script.
You double-check.
You grip the notes tighter than you need to.

Not because you’re incapable.

Because your nervous system still thinks there are consequences.

This is why “just be more confident” is such useless advice.

If confidence once equalled danger, your system will cap it. Every time.

Identity Lag in Business

I see this constantly with established business owners.

On the surface:

  • They’re capable.

  • They’re respected.

  • They’re producing results.

Underneath:

  • They’re bracing.

  • They’re over-preparing.

  • They’re quietly terrified of being exposed.

That’s identity lag.

Your external results have moved forward.

Your internal identity hasn’t caught up.

So growth feels edgy.
Visibility feels risky.
Success feels unstable.

Not because you’re not ready.

Because a younger part of you once made a very logical decision about what was safe.

And your nervous system is still honouring that decision.

What Actually Shifted

What changed in that session wasn’t technique.

It was this:

He is not six.
He is not in that house.
He is not his father.
And he is not wrong.

When that landed – properly landed – the charge dropped.

The intimidation he’d been feeling towards his own voice just…dissolved.

And from there?

Power.

Not hype.
Not puffed-up ego.

Clean, grounded power.

The kind where you realise you can’t actually fail, because stumbling over a word doesn’t mean anything about who you are.

By the end he wasn’t asking,
“How do I deliver it better?”

He was saying,
“I’m ditching the paper. I’m bringing them in close. I’m speaking eye-to-eye.”

That’s a completely different nervous system.

Imagine the ripple effect of that – not just for him, but for the people he leads.

Enoughness in the Body (Not Just the Head)

This is the bit that’s hard to explain until you’ve felt it.

You can intellectually understand that you’re “good enough”.

You can repeat affirmations.
You can read the books.
You can journal until your hand aches.

But if your body still associates being seen with danger, you’ll armour up.

Enoughness has to land in the nervous system.

When it does, something shifts:

You stop gripping.
You stop performing.
You stop trying to outrun being “found out”.

Growth stops feeling like a push.

You’re not trying to become someone else.

You’re just no longer fighting who you already are.

It’s Rarely About Strategy

Most business problems that look like:

  • Visibility issues

  • Procrastination

  • Overthinking

  • Inconsistent income

  • Fear of scaling

Aren’t really about strategy.

They’re about an old meaning your system made years ago…that you’re still organising your life around.

Change the meaning, and behaviour shifts without force.

That’s why this work isn’t dramatic.

It’s surgical.

It’s sitting with someone, spotting the pattern underneath the performance, and refusing to let them keep mistaking a survival strategy for truth.

Sometimes the gap between:

“I hope this lands…”

and

“I can’t actually fail.”

is one honest conversation.

And sometimes?

There really is a six-year-old running your business.

The good news is – you don’t have to fire them.

You just have to let the adult take the lead.

Cheers

Why Making a “Sensible” Decision Can Feel So Heavy

February 12, 2026 By Claire Turner

Why making a sensible decision feels heavy

Here’s the thing nobody talks about when they’re “just trying to make a sensible decision.”

It’s rarely about the decision.

On a recent 1:1 call, a client came to me torn between two career paths.

On paper it looked practical. Employed role…or entrepreneurship.

But tangled up inside that were finances, parental expectations, health, partner dynamics, location.

All very intelligent.
Very responsible.
Very sensible.

And completely paralysing.

Because the “right” decision had to be made.

Within twenty minutes, it was clear this wasn’t about jobs.

It was about this:

“If I do better, faster, easier than my parents…am I a bad daughter?”

Not consciously.

Consciously she was strategic. Thoughtful. Analytical.

Unconsciously? Loyal.

They struggled.
They worked hard.
They earned it the “right” way.

So who is she to skip ahead?

And if she does…does that make her ungrateful? Disloyal? Arrogant?

But we didn’t stop there.

I challenged the part of her that kept looking at me for validation.

“Can you tell me which option is better?”

No.

Because the moment I validate her decision, I reinforce the belief that she isn’t the authority in her own life.

But the real blind spot was the rule she didn’t know she was living by:

If I grow beyond them, I lose them.

We questioned the safety narrative too.

She kept saying, “I just need to feel safe first.”

Safe from what?

From upsetting people.
From being seen as selfish.
From out-earning her parents.
From being “too much”.

Her nervous system had wired success to loss of love.

If I get bigger, I will upset people.
If I upset people, I will lose love.
If I lose love, I am not safe.

That’s not business strategy.

That’s survival coding.

We also dismantled the financial assumption running quietly in the background:

That struggle equals virtue.
That ease equals cheating.
That earning quickly is morally suspicious.

And we exposed the emotional responsibility pattern – the belief that her actions directly control how other people feel.

If I choose differently, I am letting them down.

No.

Other people choose how they respond.

But when you’ve built your identity around being the good one…it doesn’t feel that way.

This is what 1:1 does that DIY courses, podcasts and Instagram advice can’t reach.

Because your blind spot feels like logic when you’re inside it.

You don’t need more information.

You need someone who can see the pattern you’re organised around and name it.

Not manage it.
Not soothe it.
Name it.

By the end of the call she wasn’t “fixed”.

She was no longer outsourcing her authority.

She stopped asking me what she should do.

She decided.

Calmly.
Clearly.
Without needing permission.

That’s the difference.

If you’re overthinking something that should be simple…

If you keep circling decisions you already know the answer to…

If you’re waiting to feel safe enough before you expand…

It’s probably not about the decision.

It’s about the identity you’re unconsciously protecting.

And most people don’t realise they’re still living by rules they never consciously agreed to.

Cheers

BUSINESS OWNERS: Are You Being A Fearless Leader?

May 3, 2023 By Claire Turner

Are you “at effect” or “at cause” of your emotion? Be that stress, anxiety, frustration, anger, or something else?

And what exactly do I mean by that? And how does that affect your leadership skills?

I heard my business coach – Ryan Rieder – describe it this way:-

Imagine a tennis player, serving.

Being “at effect” of your emotion means that the emotion (let’s say anxiety) is controlling you. So, imagine that you are the tennis ball and your anxiety is the tennis racket. You are being directed (smacked on the arse) by the anxiety, passively, with no control.

When you are “at cause” of an emotion, instead of being the ball – you become the tennis player.

Suddenly, an image of control comes up. Directing the emotion where you can effectively use it.

Or hit it away.

Most people think that this is easier said than done. But is it really?

Let’s park that for a moment.

As a Business Owner, sometimes you have to have an uncomfortable conversation. Something that Ryan has taught me is that your success is in direct proportion to the uncomfortable conversations that you are prepared to have.

Which plays directly into one of the biggest fears people have…conflict.

Business owners can be afraid to say what needs to be said, or confront an issue – because “people might leave if I…[fill in the blank]”

But if you chose the alternative (which is turning a blind eye)…

…you are choosing to knowingly lose money!

And look, we’ve all done it. I’ve been as guilty as the next person for this. And let’s face it, this is probably happening in your business right now. With staff, with clients. Or both.

The reality is that, if someone does leave, no matter how “critical” you may have felt they were, you always look back and think…

“Phew. Why on earth didn’t I do that earlier?!”

It’s the build up to all this that can be so very uncomfortable. The anger or frustration you can feel about someone not doing their job properly. The anxiety that can come up when you think about having a conversation with them about this. That physical reaction you can have.

That there my friend is you being the ball.

Remember how I said you could be the tennis player and hit that away or use it?

Most “normal” people don’t like bringing something up that may cause conflict. It can feel scary and threatening. And your body reacts accordingly by throwing you into a stress response.

When you are in a stress response you lose your ability to engage the sensible part of your brain. You operate entirely from your emotion based hind or reptilian brain.

You have been hijacked.

This means you are unable to be calm, rational, quick thinking, logical. Whilst at the same time being super effective at not being able to articulate clearly, getting defensive and reactive, making the whole thing generally much worse.

(This also carries over into your personal relationships. When you say that thing you don’t mean and have no idea why you said it and now you’re in the dog house. If you’re lucky.)

What if you could reclaim your sensible brain by turning off your stress response? And do it quickly?

Stressed?!

July 26, 2021 By Claire Turner

Try This…

Stress is a massive issue for many people at the moment.

It was a massive issue BEFORE Covid, but lockdowns have had the effect of giving it a shot of steroids.

Now, some stress (in short bursts) is actually very good for you. But long, drawn out, chronic stress that you end up wading around in – like stress soup – is very bad.

Bad for your mental and for your physical health.

It will negatively impact your immune system, prevent proper digestion, lay down belly fat, increase blood pressure, affect sleep (when your healing happens) and so much more.

And when you’re stuck in chronic stress it’s so hard to get out of. Why?

Because stress is your body going into the fight/flight response. Blood is routed away from your brain and into your limbs – so you can fight or flee.

The result of blood leaving the brain?

Difficulty thinking. Difficulty problem solving. Brain fog.

And because you can’t think of solutions to what is causing the stress…you get more stressed.

Because you can’t see or find a way out of the stress…you get more stressed.

Vicious. Circle.

It’s the same theory for when you don’t have the thing or life you want.

There’s something you want, or there’s a way you want to live your life – but you can’t seem to get it. This is frustrating to say the least. It can also destroy your confidence and leave you living a life that is well below par.

Here’s the thing. Humans are creatures of habit. You keep doing what you’ve always done…and so you get what you’ve always gotten.

If you want a different result you have to change something. You have to do something differently.

Simple right?

Actually no.

A change of habit feels uncomfortable, often scary and your brain doesn’t like it. It sends it into the stress response – because it can’t tell the difference between real and perceived danger.

Your brain’s job is to keep you alive and safe – so it will actively work against you when you try to make those changes that take you out of your “comfort zone”.

This often presents itself as your Inner Voice; the chatter that goes on behind your eyeballs, giving you all sorts of reasons why you shouldn’t attempt this change. Maybe paralysing you from moving forward. Maybe just subtly distracting you so you don’t even realise you’ve been knocked off course.

Now this isn’t because your brain is bad. It really does believe it’s working for your best interests – it’s trying to protect you. Unfortunately, this mis-guided self love can really get in your way and hold you back.

It can also keep you in that stress state.

If only there was a fast and effective technique for reducing stress! For allowing your intelligent, problem solving brain to come back online! For finding and releasing limiting beliefs that keep you in the stress vicious circle!

Well, I’m really pleased to tell you that – THERE IS! Woohoo!

You may not have heard about it because it’s only recently started hitting the mainstream. If you have heard about it you may have discounted it cos it looks, quite frankly, utterly woo woo.

So, what is it?

I’d like to introduce you to EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), often called Tapping.

See, it’s even got a silly name.

But don’t be fooled by its appearance. It’s EXTREMELY effective at reducing stress. Fast.

There are several studies that support this too.

The latest one, by Peta Stapleton, PH. D., involved 3 groups of people who had their cortisol levels (a stress hormone) measured via their saliva before receiving 3 different interventions.

The first group spent an hour reading magazines.

The second group were given an hour of psychoeducation (info on stress).

The third group received an hour of EFT.

After the hour, the first group experienced an INCREASE in cortisol of 2%.

The second group experienced a reduction of 19% (this is around the usual rate of decline when the cause of the stress is removed).

But the third group, the group who had done an hour of EFT, experienced a WHOPPING 43% decrease of cortisol.

43% – after just 1 hour!

Imagine the positive impact that would have on your mental and physical health. The impact it would have on your life!

80-90% of the choices we make are based on emotions. Would you rather be making potentially dubious choices from a state of stress…or potentially better choices from a place of empowerment?

I don’t know about you, but I can’t think of ONE good decision I’ve made from a place of stress!

EFT gives you the freedom and ability to change your emotional state.

Emotional freedom gives you the power to make better choices.

That’s huge. That’s massively empowering. Yet so many people aren’t aware of it. Or if they are aware of it, aren’t doing it.

Yes…it looks a bit woo woo.

Yes…you’ll feel a bit silly to start with.

Maybe your Inner Voice will tell you that you don’t need it; that your life is already moving along how you want it to. That you’re not being slowed down or held back by internal resistance and so this really isn’t for you.

You may choose to believe that. However, nothing is so good that it can’t get better and the potential benefits of EFT make it well worth giving this odd looking process a try.

What have you got to lose?! Other than stress of course!

What’s This EFT Thing?!

July 21, 2021 By Claire Turner

And what can you use it for?

EFT is probably best known for its effectiveness at reducing stress and anxiety quickly, but it can be used for so much more!

Weight Loss

Yep, that’s right! Research has shown that EFT is incredible at eliminating food cravings. Check out my You Tube video for Chocolate Cravings.

We tend to view weight as a problem, but I’d like to invite you to think about it more as a symptom. What was happening in your life when the weight started to go on? If your weight were a metaphor, what would it be? What do you say you’ll do (or be) when you lose weight that may be scaring you? What beliefs do you have a weight and weight loss?

Get your FREE Guide here!

Abundance

No way! Yes way! We attach a LOT of emotion to money and harbour all kinds of beliefs about it. That’s fine when the beliefs are empowering, but what if they’re limiting?

If you say you want more money, but you don’t have it, it’s a really good indicator that your sub conscious has spotted a downside to it. I’d like you to consider this statement: The extent to which you don’t have the thing you want is the extent to which you are resisting it.

Get your FREE Guide to the 5 Biggest Blocks To Abundance (and how to get rid of them!) here.

Getting Stuff Done

I’m talking about ditching procrastination!

Procrastination is actually your sub conscious’s way to keep you save. The thing you want to do, the goal you want to achieve, if you’re procrastinating about it ask yourself this question: What’s the downside of doing/achieving this?

Sounds bonkers I know, but trust me. Your sub conscious has clocked a downside (probably completely illogical!) and is cleverly, cunningly and sometimes subtly veering you off course.

Discover my easy 5 step formula for eliminating procrastination FOR GOOD here.

Essentially, if you’re not feeling great, if you’re in pain, if you don’t have what you want…try EFT!

And if you feel Awesome – pump it up with EFT!

You can literally try it on anything!

Does EFT Really Work?!

July 15, 2021 By Claire Turner

Or is it a bit of a scam?!

And I think that’s a fair question. After all, the first time I met EFT the first thoughts through my head were: “What A Load Of Bollocks!”

To be fair, EFT doesn’t really help itself. I mean, it looks fucking weird, and you feel really silly doing it. And what even ARE acupressure points? And how can tapping them do anything?!

Acupressure points are areas on the body that have a high electrical conductivity. Think of them like little garden gates that open onto an energy pathway. This energy pathway is called a meridien.

When you stimulate them (in this case, by tapping them with your fingers), you’re sending an electrical message (an email if you will) to your stress response centre in your brain. Essentially telling it to chillax.

Why is that useful?

Well, when was the last time you made a really good decision whilst you were upset?

When you’re in a stress response and your emotions are high…your intelligence drops through the floor. So, by tapping when you feel stressed (or any other negative emotion) you calm that down and allow your intelligence to come back on line. Not only do you feel better, you stop being stupid.

But here’s where it gets really groovy.

When you go into a stress response it’s because you’ve been triggered by something. The trigger is something that you’ve experienced in the past, or a variant of it that close enough to alarm your subconscious.

For example:

When you were 5 you got bitten by a large, black dog. A traumatic experience that has been squirreled away in your memories and marked as IMPORTANT. Your brain is now on high alert for anything that resembles this memory, in order to keep you safe.

When you see large black dogs from now on, you instantly go into a stress response. But not just large black dogs…small white dogs, medium sized brown dogs. Anything that looks vaguely similar is enough to set you off.

That doesn’t really seem like a massive problem. Until one day you get into trouble whilst swimming in a lake, and you start drowning (God, you’re really unlucky!). As you struggle to keep your head above water, a large, friendly St Bernard comes swimming up to, not only save you, but also provide you with a shot of brandy.

This dog is about to save your life. But your brain throws up that original memory and you panic. You try to get away from your furry life saver. And as a result you drown horribly.

Bummer.

Now, that’s a bit of an extreme example cos I love a bit of drama. But the same theory can be applied to any part of your life.

Maybe you get very stressed when someone tells you what to do? And maybe that’s impacting your ability to hold down a job? If you trace that back, it might lead to a memory where you were bullied at school and told to do stuff you didn’t want to do. So now, anytime you are told what to do (and it doesn’t matter how nicely it’s said or how much it will benefit you), you react badly.

Not only can EFT help you to feel better NOW…you can use it to find the original memory (the root cause) and remove the emotional attachment to it.

Meaning, that you remove the trigger. Remove the trigger and, what would have once sent you off into a stress response, now WON’T.

Emotional Freedom.

*Mic drop*

But how can it even do that?!

Recall a time you really embarassed yourself. Let’s say, public speaking.

As you recall that time in your mind, notice what your emotions are doing. They’re probably going UP.

Tapping whilst holding that memory in your mind calms down the stress response and takes the emotion out of the memory. Without the emotion, you no longer get triggered into a stress response. You can recall that memory with NO EMOTION.

That memory may have been preventing you from doing work presentations that could lead to more money, or a big sale. Now it’s no longer triggering you, you’re going to lose the anxiety and stress around that.

And I’m not just making this shit up. All this has been scientifically researched.

You can learn more from one of the top researchers (Dr Peta Stapleton) here.

(You can also check out my chat with Peta HERE.)

So…does EFT really work?

Well, I can only go from my own experience – and the experience of my clients. Which is YES. EFT does work.

What does it work with? What problem do you need to have?!

I’m going to refer you back to a phrase uttered by my good friend, Brad Yates:

The extent to which you don’t have the thing you want in your life is the extent to which you are resisting it.

Ask yourself the question…WHAT DO I WANT?

When you have your answer, look at your life. Is that thing in it to the extent you want it?

Maybe money, health, love, clients, confidence…whatever.

If it’s not, then you’re subconsciously resisting it in the form of a limiting belief (or beliefs).

THAT’S where EFT comes in. Remove the limiting belief, replace it with a more empowering belief…and what do you think happens?

But don’t take MY word for it…try it for yourself! Check out my You Tube Channel for Tap Along videos.

Can’t Network Won’t Network?

April 6, 2020 By Claire Turner

Is A Fear Of Public Speaking Preventing Your Business From Growing?

Due to Covid-19 I have just attended my very first ONLINE Networking meeting.

I do a lot of Networking and am always inviting people I know, who have their own business, to come along. The reason being that Networking is a fantastic way to connect with and support other Business Owners and Entrepreneurs.

But here’s what I’m finding. Most people are up for it…until I mention that you have to stand up for 40 or so seconds and present who you are and what you do.

Cue the “ums” and “ahs”. Suddenly it’s not at a convenient time, or they’re washing their hair that day. All because they would have to Stand Up And Talk About Who They Are And What They Do.

The HORROR!

This is a very real fear for so many people. But why?

You know who you are and (hopefully) you know what you do. You know how you can help other people. So why does your stomach drop out of your arse when you think about standing up and speaking in public about it? Why do your hands get sweaty and your chest tighten?

The likelihood is that, somewhere in your mind, there is a memory of a time you had to speak in public…and it didn’t go so well.

Maybe at school you had to walk to the front of the class and talk about something. Maybe the other kids laughed at you for getting something wrong. Maybe the Teacher made a disparaging remark. Whatever it was, you now have a recording of this little movie inside your head.

And when this happened, you would have had a physiological and emotional response. Maybe your hands got sweaty. Maybe  you started trembling. Maybe you felt like your were going to be sick. You very probably felt emotions along the lines of Shame, Embarrassment, Humiliation.

And that younger You would have formed a Belief right then, in that moment. And that Belief might be “It’s not safe to stand up in public and talk”.

So you do everything in your power to avoid it. If you absolutely HAVE to do it, you get so nervous that this Belief is just reinforced.

Whatever it was, whatever happened (and you may not really remember, but it’s there – deep in your subconscious) it’s now limiting you, because guess what! To grow your business you have to get out there and tell people about it! And about you, cos people buy from people.

It’s something I realised I’d have to put my Big Girl Pants on pretty quickly about. And to do that I got help. In fact I spent a lot of money on getting help, because I could see that it was an Investment in Me.

So how can EFT help?

Well you can use EFT like a pincer movement.

(a) You can use it to quickly calm feelings of anxiety and stress so you are in a better and calmer place from which to act.

(b) You can use it to find the Event from your past that has caused this limiting Belief…and release it.

So if you are one of the MANY MANY people who fear public speaking so much that they would rather be in the coffin than giving the eulogy…I invite you to have a think about what that’s stopping you from achieving.

And if you COULD stand up and speak in front of other people, how do you think that would affect your Personal and Business GROWTH?

What would it look like?

What would it feel like?

How would your life change?

Where Do You Want To Succeed?

June 11, 2019 By Claire Turner

And What Will It Take To Get There?

There’s something you want – but you can’t seem to get it. This is frustrating to say the least. It can also destroy your confidence and leave you living a life that is well below par.

Here’s the thing. Humans are creatures of habit. We keep doing what we’ve always done…and so we get what we’ve always gotten. If you want a different result you have to change something. You have to do something differently.

Simple right?

Actually no.

A change of habit feels uncomfortable, often scary and your brain doesn’t like this. Part of your brain’s main purpose is to keep you safe – so it will actively work against you when you try to make those changes that take you out of your “comfort zone”.

Unfortunately this mis-guided self love can really get in your way and hold you back. It’s based on old programming and probably a lot of misunderstandings in the form of limiting beliefs.

This is where EFT comes in. EFT is very effective at reducing stress. A study by Dawson Church on the effect of EFT on levels of cortisol (one of the stress hormones) in your blood stream showed an average of a 24% decrease after just one hour of tapping. The normal rate of decline is only 14%. So rather than letting the fear of change stop you, you can tap to reduce the stress and discomfort around it. This gives you the freedom to examine what it is that you might be afraid of…and come to the realisation that you can actually handle positive changes.

EFT gives you the freedom and ability to change your emotional state.

80-90% of the choices we make are based on emotions.

Maybe your Inner Voice will tell you you don’t need it; that your life is already moving along how you want it to. That you’re not being slowed down or held back by internal resistance and so this really isn’t for you.

You may choose to believe that. However, nothing is so good that it can’t get better and the potential benefits of EFT make it well worth giving this odd looking process a try. What have you got to lose?!

What’s Stopping Weight Loss?

May 3, 2019 By Claire Turner

The Biggest Mistake That Stops You Dropping Those Pounds

EFT – Weight Loss

I don’t know about you, but I have yet to meet someone who didn’t wish they could shed a few pounds (or more!) of weight – preferably without the pain of diet and exercise!

Your beliefs about yourself and what you can (or can’t) accomplish because of your size are usually negative:-

“I’m too fat to find love.”

“When I’m thin I’ll finally be happy.”

“I can’t reach for my dream of ____ until I lose some weight and get fit.”

And so on and on and on.

You have been taught to tackle weight loss in a certain way. You diet and exercise FIRST and once weight loss has been achieved THEN the beliefs about yourself and what you can achieve change for the positive.

Right?

Unfortunately, this is the biggest mistake that people don’t know they’re making. They focus on diet and exercise first – when they would be much better served tackling WHY they are overeating. The negative emotions and beliefs behind it all – and changing those BEFORE thinking about diet and exercise.

Now, I’m not saying don’t eat healthily and I’m not saying don’t bother exercising. These are both important. What I’m saying is that weight is not a PROBLEM – it’s a SYMPTOM. It’s your body/brain telling you it’s not comfortable about something and needs attention.

You’re not stupid. You know what food is healthy, nutritious and good for you…and you know what food isn’t. So why do you reach for the “comfort” food?

(Hint: the clue is in the title!)

Right…you need comforting. You need something that will make you feel better than you do right now. In today’s fast paced and stress filled world that’s hardly surprising. So you find yourself reaching for those sugary carbohydrates because they work some voodoo in your brain that then makes you feel calm, happy and satisfied.

(Actually they increase your brain’s concentration of an amino acid called Tryptophan, the building block of Serotonin. Serotonin is a transmitter which, when released, brings about those feel good feelings.)

You overeat because your brain is looking for pleasure!

Overeating in the moment serves a great purpose, it makes you feel good…until the side effects kick in. You put weight on and to counteract this you put yourself on a diet.

So on top of all your everyday stress, you unwittingly add in the STRESS of watching what you eat, the STRESS of using will power and the STRESS of fighting your food cravings.

It’s exhausting!

Then – success! You lose a few pounds. You relax, the will power goes and the weight comes back on, often more than before.

No matter how much you diet, no matter how much you make yourself exercise – if you are dealing with stress and other negative emotions YOU WILL STRUGGLE TO LOSE WEIGHT. Stress will literally create a hormone (cortisol) that makes you fat.

Read that again.

Stress creates a hormone which causes your body to store fat.

Feeling stressed y that?! Ready to give up in despair?! Don’t worry, there is hope!

EFT is amazingly effective at reducing stress and can be used to clear negative and limiting beliefs and emotions.

A study has been done by Dawson Church on the effect of tapping on levels of cortisol in our blood stream. It showed an average of a 24% decrease in cortisol after just one hour of tapping. And that is just the average. Some individual participants experienced as much as a 50% decrease.

The normal rate of decline is only 14%, so that’s a massive difference!

Stress is accumulative. Imagine being able to not only quickly reduce the level of stress you’re feeling but also teach your brain not to react in the first place. That has a huge effect on both allowing you to feel better and being able to lose weight and keep it off.

So don’t put yourself under the stress of dieting. By using EFT you can change your beliefs and behaviours so that you naturally turn towards the healthier option.
